From these rustic and serene hideaways (managed by the friendliest of folks) you can reach many attractions and retail centers, most within a 20-25 mile radius. It's easy and convenient!
And the food! Restaurant options include Italian, Mexican, American and Chinese cuisine. If you prefer to cook your own fresh food, Wednesdays and Saturdays you can enjoy the farmer’s market across from the Court Complex on the downtown Mountain Home square. Local farmers and artisans arrive at 6am, and the market stays open through the early afternoon bustling with activity and home grown and homemade items. An added bonus...on Fridays in the summer enjoy live music on the square! There are also plenty of grocery store options for those cooking in.
And of course, while you're here you MUST take advantage of the great outdoors...hunting and fishing in the wooded hills, on the two lakes, and in the beautiful, clear streams of the Ozark Mountains. Bull Shoals Lake spans 6,000 square feet across the gorgeous natural landscape of North Central Arkansas and South Central Missouri. Bass, crappie, and walleye are abundant, and boat rentals are available. Get away from the hustle and bustle and enjoy the beautifully maintained campgrounds on Bull Shoals or Lake Norfork. The Buffalo National River, less than an hour from Mountain Home, is home to more than fifty species of fish and also offers camping, hiking, boating, and accommodations.
Mountain Home is also home to Arkansas State University Mountain Home, which offers two and four year programs. ASU Mountain Home boasts The Sheid Performing Arts Center, home to a state-of-the-art Performance Center for concerts, conventions, speakers and events. The Sheid, as well as the Donald W. Reynolds Library, a 30,000 square foot facility just across the street from ASU Mountain Home, offers regular art exhibits and community events. The Chamber's Calendar of Events keeps track of all the fun things to see and do while you're here - don't forget to check it before you come!
All this, plus the low crime rate, low cost of living, excellent and abundant healthcare options and quality school systems continue to tranform our many visitors into life long residents. Why Mountain Home? One visit, and you'll see for yourself. Three Rivers, Two Lakes, One Beautiful Life.
