Chamber Chat 5.15.18

It’s not too late to register for the Bare Necessities 5K Fun Run/Walk this Saturday. Registration forms can be picked up at the Chamber office. Check in begins at 7:00 a.m. at Cooper Park with an 8:00 a.m. starttime. Adult registration is $30.00 and kids 12 and under can register by donating an unopened package of kid’s underwear. Money raised from the run will be used to purchase socks and underwear for the clothes closets in the Mountain Home School District. The Bare Necessities 5K Fun Run/Walk is the project for the 2017-2018 Leadership Mountain Home class.

Leadership Mountain Home is a program put on by the Mountain Home Area Chamber of Commerce. This unique program engages participants with community leaders, businesses and organizations. Leadership Mountain Home is cultivating effective leaders in our area by developing an awareness of business issues and challenges facing our community, discovering personal leadership strengths and establishing valuable community relationships and resources.

The Leadership program begins in August with an overnight team building experience. Sessions include; Education, History/Tourism, Local Government, Community Involvement, Communications, Industry, Healthcare and Law Enforcement. The class also has an overnight trip to Little Rock to tour the State Capitol, meet the governor and our local representatives. The program ends in June with a graduation.

Each year the class must choose a project that will better our community. Past projects include: remodeling of Gamma House, Movies in the Park, Brick Mountain Home Signs located on the East and West end of town,Dollar Energy Fund and the Community Cupboard at Hickory Park.

The Chamber is still accepting teams and sponsors for our 2018 Chamber of Commerce Annual Golf Tournament. The tournament will be FridayMay 18th at Big Creek Golf & Country Club. This year’s Leadership Mountain Home class project is the Bare Necessities 5K Fun Run/Walk.  The event will raise money to purchase socks and underwear to stock the closets in the Mountain Home School District. Registration forms can be picked up at the Chamber of Commerce,Centennial Bank or First Community Bank. The 5K will be held on Saturday May 19th at 8:00 a.m. at Cooper Park.

We would like to welcome our new members VetIQ Petcare,Vacco Insurance and Crawford RV Park. The Chamber will be having a ribbon cutting for VetIQ Petcare tomorrow, May 10th at 12:00 p.m.  Everyone is welcome to come out for the ribbon cutting on Thursday or join them Saturday May 12th for their Grand Opening.

Thank you SG360 for hosting our First Friday Luncheon last week.  Our next Chamber networking event will be Business After Hours hosted by Century 21 on Thursday May 24th at 5:15p.m. The Business After Hours will be held at 420 S Main St, Mountain Home.Chamber networking events are open to all chamber members, their employees and/or guests.

SG360 is a facility services company specializing in janitorial, facilities management, restoration services, and inventory management. First Friday Luncheon is anetworking event open to all Chamber members, their employees and guests.

Chamber Chat 4.24.18

We apologize to our readers for missing last weeks Chamber Chat. We were out of the office attending the MAKO (Missouri Arkansas KansasOklahoma) Chamber meeting. We also apologize if you tried to call the office last week. When we returned to town we discovered that the storm took out our phones. After a week with very limited phone service, we are finally back up and running.

To wrap up April, the Chamber held a ribbon cutting last Saturday for Aspire Outdoors and this week we will have our Business AfterHours hosted by Serenity, 1015 Hwy 62 West, Thursday the 26th at 5:15p.m. Our Business After Hours are open to all Chamber members their employees and guests.

May will kick off with our First Friday Luncheon hosted by SG360 on May 4th from 12:00 – 1:00 p.m. at El Chico. The Chamber’s annual golf tournament will be held Friday April 18th at Big Creek Golf & Country Club. We are still in need of sponsors and teams. The tournament is a two-person scramble with a shotgun start at 8:00 a.m.Registration includes green fee, cart rental, lunch, on course refreshments, prizes and goody bag. We want to extend another thank you to Cloud 9 Ranch for hosting our First Friday Luncheon last week. We had a good crowd and Cloud 9 did an excellent job. Next month’s host is SG360. First Friday Luncheons are Chamber networking events that are open to all Chamber members, their employees and/or guest.
