Chamber Chat 6.12.18

Last week we took advantage of a unique opportunity to showcase our community to dozens of people throughout Arkansas during the Breakthrough Solutions Conference hosted by the University of Arkansas Division of Agriculture. The conference was held in Little Rock and opened with a pre-conference workshop.  During the workshop the Chamber made a presentation covering the history of Mountain Home and Baxter County.  At the end of the presentation we highlighted that Baxter and Marion Counties have been in a population decline over the past seven or eight years. The attendees then broke into several groups to focus on finding solutions to the following five areas of economic development:Entrepreneurialism; Quality of Place; Tourism and Retiree Recruitment; Business Recruitment; and Business Retention and Expansion.  Numerous ideas were tossed around and we expect to have the results from these discussions soon.

The Chamber will utilize this information as we move forward on the development of a comprehens ivestrategic plan for economic development for the region.  Our end goal is to reverse the population decline we are now experiencing in Baxter and Marion Counties.

We will be continually updating you on our progress through this space.
