Happy New Year from all of us at the Chamber of Commerce! Wehad an eventful first week of 2018 starting with a Ribbon Cutting for Fujiyama Japanese Steak House & Sushi on January 3rd. They have recently reopened with new owners and new menu. After the Ribbon Cutting Fujiyama treated the Chamber staff and our Ambassadors to a fun and delicious hibachi lunch, thanks again Fujiyama!
On Friday January 5th Home Instead Senior Carehosted our monthly First Friday Luncheon at El Chico. Dale Lunday, Human Resources Manager, shared Home Instead’s mission and services offered.
Looking ahead we have our annual Chamber of Commerce Annual Banquet and Membership Meeting. Historically the banquet has been held inNovember, this year we made the decision to move it to January. The banquetwill be held on Thursday, January 25th at 6:00 p.m. at The Sheid.The Chamber will be recognizing Outstanding Business or Industry, OutstandingOrganization, Educator of the Year, Young Entrepreneur of the Year, MedicalProfessional of the Year, Spirit Award, Jim Gaston Friend of Tourism, Volunteerof the Year and Ambassador of the Year. Chamber members made the nominationsfor the awards and the Chamber’s Board of Directors will vote on the slateduring the January Board of Directors meeting. During the banquet we will alsorecognize our outgoing board members and welcome our new board members. Duringthe first hour, attendees will have to opportunity to place bids on some greatsilent auction items. You will also want to be present for at least one bigeconomic development announcement for 2018.

This week demolition has begun on the old Chamber ofCommerce building located on Hwy 62. After demolition the lot will be listedfor sale. For now, we are in our temporary location at 1041 Highland Circle Ste.59 until we find our permanent home.
