Date: Tuesday February 4, 2025
Trail: Buffalo River Trail/Ozark Highlands Trail-Red Bluff Road to Little Rocky Creek
in the always beautiful Buffalo National River corridor.
Distance of hike: approx. 7 miles out and back
NOTES: We will cross Rocky Creek. I do not know if it will be a wet crossing (probably not, but “maybe”) so, if you want to, bring some wading shoes—your choice. No dogs allowed on Buffalo National River park trails.
Difficulty of hike: Moderate-Difficult
Hike Coordinator: Kris McMillen
Meeting time: 9:30 a.m. PLEASE BE PROMPT!
Meeting Place: Harriet, AR at Intersection of Hwy 14 & 27 across from Crockett Canoe Rental. There is a pullout off the highway. We will leave some cars there; there’s only room for 5-6 cars at the trail parking.
Hope to see you on the trail.
Please bring lunch, water, snacks, hiking boots/shoes, proper clothing for the temps/conditions. Bring your own first aid supplies, bug spray, sunscreen or whatever you need for the day.
We are just some experienced hiking friends who are casually meeting at a trailhead to go hiking. Hike at your own risk; everyone is responsible for their own self/well-being. Hikes are limited to 16 people.
No children under age 15 on this hike.
There will be an Ozark Society Liability Waiver for everyone to sign.
All hikes are weather-permitting so please let us know if you are hiking with us BEFORE the day of the hike—THAT IS THE ONLY WAY WE CAN LET YOU KNOW IF THERE ARE CHANGES OR CANCELLATION—then I can email you in case of last minute or other changes: 501-984-3774 text or email to krismcmillen7@gmail.com
*We will have an after-hike tailgate get-together. Just bring a snack to share and, if you want, a beverage of your choice.
