About the PhotographerMy passion for photography began in 1969 while I was majoring in Landscape Architecture. On field trips the “rich” kids carried 35 mm cameras which captured beautiful images on slide film. I had a tiny 110 “Instamatic” camera which only produced color negatives less than half the size of a postage stamp. I could not produce beautiful slide presentations like the other students as a result. It was then I made myself a promise: “The first thing I’m going to do after graduation when I have the money is to buy a 35mm SLR camera!” Well, in 1971 I bought that camera at a military PX in Vicksburg, Mississippi, and thus began my passion for capturing images of landscapes, nature, wildlife, and ultimately wild horses which you see in this exhibit.Beginning in 1979, my photography led to multimedia and DVD productions, theater design, and interactive visitor center exhibits. I discovered that this medium allowed me to express my feelings in new and profound ways.I found the Pryor Mountains Wild Horse Range in 1998 whileliving in Montana and northern Wyoming. Thus began another passion…….wild horse photography and videography. The love of horses and the natural horsemanship program I created, “One With The Horse,” meshed perfectly with the visual artistry.I hope to share as many stories of my journey as possible. This exhibit is the beginning. Thank you for viewing a beautiful part of my life through these photographs.I still have that 110 Instamatic camera. In photography, “we must first see the beauty.”
