The Friends of the Baxter County Library aid in developing public understanding of the library and making it better known to the citizens of the community. Friends provide funds that would not otherwise be available through membership dues, special contributions, and used book sales. All proceeds are used to benefit the library – purchase furniture, equipment, books and materials and to provide the library staff with advance training and education. Friends donate their time and hard work in our various programs and services. Friends also encourage gifts of books and materials to the library. Since it was founded in 1980, the Friends have given over $600,000.00 to the library.
Monthly, except in June, July, August and November, the Friends hold a program meeting for the interest of the members and their guests. Their used book sales are held as a community service and fund raising project the third Thursday of February, May, August and November. Dues of $5.00 per year are due each September and can be paid at any meeting or at the Library Circulation Desk. Membership forms can be obtained at the Book Holding/ Information area.
