Phoenix Rising is more than just Martial Arts. Our style is primarily based on American Freestyle Kenpo Karate. We offer specialized classes for Little Dragons, ages 4 and up, mixed classes with both teens and adults, and private lessons for those who desire one-on-one attention. Self protection classes are being offered for women and young ladies, ages 13 and up, using defensive living tactics. We have just added a new skill to our dojo and are now offering Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Even though we have only been open since March of 2021, we have grown our small dojo into a large family. Not only are we focused on teaching the art of Kenpo Karate but also the building of self worth, self confidence, self esteem not only in individuals but as a team.
In 2021, our dojo has participated in 2 Martial Art Tournaments bringing home over 30 different plaques and awards ranging from 1st to 3rd place. We sponsored a food distribution in the summer of 2021 and gave away a whole semi trailer of food! We have partnered with Care Center Ministries to offer a safe space for women to learn defensive skills and to grow physically and emotionally.
Our Sensi Devin Newton, is the owner/operator of Phoenix Rising Martial Arts. She grew up with Kenpo Karate through her father Grandmaster Curtis Futch. She has held the Arkansas State Championship title, has been inducted into the Martial Arts Hall of Fame for Female Competitor of the year and is one of the highest ranked female martial artists in the tri-state area Like the Phoenix, Devin has truly risen from the ashes. She has battled great demons in her past that take those who are not as strong down. She focuses much of her time and energy serving her family, teaching at her dojo, and continuing to be the best person possible.
