“Legends of the White River Monster” by Dianna Roller will be the topic at the next Baxter County Historical & Genealogical Society meeting on Tuesday, August 27 at 6:00 p.m. in the Knox Room of the Donald W Reynolds Library, 300 Library Hill, Mtn. Home.
Dianna Roller is a native of Northeast Arkansas and has lived in the Mountain Home area since 1976. Her husband is Mike Roller. They have 2 grown children and 3 grandchildren who all live in Mountain Home.
Dianna is a retired teacher and has always had an interest in history. She presented a Lunch and Learn Program at ASU on the History of Baxter County and also did a program about Ghost Towns of Arkansas for Baxter County Historical Society, Bull Shoals Historical Society and the Mountain Home Christian Academy.
“Legends of the White River Monster” is one of America’s premier mysteries. Since 1915, along the White River near Newport, Arkansas (Jackson County), the monster has appeared several times and has become a local legend.
The Baxter County Historical Society meets the 4th Tuesday of each month at 6:00. Most meetings are held at the Donald W. Reynolds Library. Meetings are free and open to the public.
